Is your quarterback overpaid?
Every starter-level QB's season stats, lined up against what they were actually paid that year (real cap hit, not a rumored number), then ranked by whether their production matches their price tag — compared to the field's mean and median.
"Starter-level" means at least 8 games played and 224 pass attempts that season — enough to filter out backups and spot starts while still catching every real starting job, including a midseason change.
Methodology
Salary is the player's real cap hit for the stats season (from Spotrac), not average-per-year or a rumored figure — so a one-year "prove it" deal and a back-loaded mega-extension aren't compared apples-to-oranges.
Value Score compares each QB's pay to the field's mean (or median) salary, and their production on seven core stats — completion %, passing yards, total TDs (passing + rushing), interceptions, passer rating, TD:INT ratio, and sacks taken — to the field's mean (or median) on each. A positive score means they're paid further above the baseline than their stats are; negative means the opposite. It's a "value for money" signal, not a talent grade.
By Stat isolates one stat at a time — e.g. "the #1 highest-paid QB throws the 2nd-fewest TDs, so by touchdowns alone he's overpaid by X" — exactly that kind of single-stat comparison, ranked across the whole field.
